Paul Grayson (Ben Daniels) keeps a bottle of Fresh fragrance at hand. When he’s very stressed (basically always), he sprays some on his hands and inhales it to calm himself down.

There’s a bottle of Bulgari Pour Homme Soir fragrance on Bob Nash’s bedroom dresser. The bottle has been customised with a black and silver stopper, while the original stopper is silver only.
Lora Meredith (Lana Turner) has finally achieved her dream of being a famous Broadway actress, but her life is still inextricably connected to Annie Johnson, her maid, who helps her backstage, too. Lora’s dressing room is not particularly fancy, but some objects on her table are.
The big bottle on the left is Caron Bellodgia, a floral fragrance created in 1927 by Ernest Daltroff. This bottle with a prism-shaped stopper was designed by Félicie Vanpouille Bergaud.
The other bottle is Opening Night by Lucien Lelong. Originally launched as Orage in 1935, it was re-named for the English market. The original bottle had a pyramid shape, but in 1938 this one (designed by Philippe Hiolle) was introduced on the market.
As for the make-up, one item is immediately recognizable – Max Factor Pan Stik, the revolutionary foundation in stick form launched in 1947.
Lana Turner was among the Hollywood stars who served as testimonials for Max Factor products. The ad above is from 1951.

Later in the film, Caron Bellodgia can be seen on Sarah Jane’s vanity. I can imagine Lora giving a bottle of her perfume to her maid’s daughter, because she really cares about her. Despite providing for both of them all through the movie, there’s an undercurrent racism in the actress’ attitude towards the girl: she often reprimands her for rejecting her “blackness”, but ends up with reinforcing her being “different”.

One of the most symbolical objects in the film [1] are Dickie Greenleaf’s rings. To his nemesis, Tom Ripley, they represent the wealth and the security in one’s identity that he’s never experienced. That’s why Tom ardently desires them: owning those rings mean owning a piece of Dickie’s dreamy existence. In the scene above, where Tom takes his friend’s rings, we can see other personal belongings – cuff links and a perfume. It’s the sandalwood after-shave lotion by Taylor of Old Bond Street.
[1] Rings are even more important in the 1955 novel by Patricia Highsmith the film is based on.
Deep into his identity theft intrigue, Tom Ripley (Matt Damon) writes a letter to Marge Duval (Gwyneth Paltrow) pretending to be Dickie Greenleaf, the girl’s fiancée.
The typewritten letter then goes into a gift package bearing a very peculiar logo – Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella, a historical Florence-based brand.

The exact perfume Tom bought for Marge (pretending to be Dickie) is never mentioned, but it’s clear it’s her favourite perfume: she asked her boyfriend to get it for her.
The passion of Courtney Love for cosmetics and perfumes has been documented since the beginning of her career [1]. In 1992 Alan Levenson took this picture in the bathroom of a Los Angeles apartment [2] she had rented with Kurt Cobain. Let’s start with the products on the washbasin.

The shaving cream is by Edge, while the soap bar with green plastic dish is by Clinique. On the left side of the washbasin there’s a pale green tube (a concealer?) and in the toothbrush holder there’s a cleansing facial brush: if memory serves me right, they are both by Clinique (old packaging).
Now the dresser: the pump bottle is Rave ultra-hold hairspray,
The black bottle with gold spray nozzle is Robert Piguet Fracas, her favourite perfume. As she explained in 2017: “My perfume history is checkered, but I found Fracas in 1985 via an agent I shared with Uma [Thurman]. It was so white-floral and heady […] I always come back to Fracas. I love it the most and it’s my go-to. It makes me so happy. My daughter also wears it. No one can ignore you when you’re wearing it, yet it’s not annoying. It smells to me like a baby’s head, a field of dreamy white meadow flowers, and a touch of sex.” Intriguing description, right?

The jar and glass bottle with white caps are Clarins products. Again, I remember Clarins skincare items had the brand name etched on their caps. I have no idea what these contained, but I guess they were a face cream and serum.
Last, the black tube with gold accents is the Lancôme mascara Définicils.
[1] Her Top Shelf is the best ever published on Into the Gloss.
[2] The flat was in the Spaulding Apartments building.

When the Female (Scarlett Johansson) visits a mall, she stops at the Clinique make-up display. She first holds a lipstick, then a Chubby Stick Intense lip colour in a red shade.

The display contains Superbalm moisturizing lip glosses and lipstick testers, Quickliner eye pencils and High Impact mascaras.
Still at the make-up department, the camera pans over another counter, where a sales assistant applies a product on a customer. All the skincare is by Clarins.

Among the products, there’s a set box which includes a pump bottle of Huile Très Démaquillante cleansing oil; there are also the eye make-up remover Démaquillant Express and the serum Capital Lumière.

The final stop of the camera is at a Smashbox make-up counter, where a make-up artist is applying some foundation on a customer using the buildable foundation brush.
Billy Bloom’s vanity is pretty busy with cosmetics and accessories. In the screencap above, the face powder situation is out of control: it’s basically everywhere on the table.
The center-stage position goes to a pink box contaning Velour lashes.

There are also a MAC hot pink lipstick and a Milani pink lipstick.

The round compact on the upper left is L’Oreal Visible Lift blush.

On the table there are some MAC Pro palette refill pans in their black envelopes and a single eyeshadow.
The perfume in the blue bottle is Avon Mesmerize For Her, a woody aromatic fragrance launched in 1992. Billy uses it all through the film.

There’s a bottle of Flora by Gucci eau de toilette in Alysa Egorian’s bathroom.
