There’s a bottle of Aveeno daily moisturizing body wash in Cal Robert’s bathroom. The name of the brand has been removed from the bottle.
Austenland (2013)
Miss Elizabeth Charming (Jennifer Coolidge) has got a very busy dressing table. I’ve spotted L’Oreal Elnett Very Volume hairspray and Rochas Madame Rochas perfume on it. The perfume, first launched in 1960, was created by Guy Robert: it’s a woody/floral scent and includes notes of bergamot, iris, jasmine, tuberose, sandalwood, oakmoss and tonka beans.
Mr Selfridge S03E07/S03E10
Harry Selfridge (Jeremy Piven) takes Nancy Webb (Kelly Adams) to Selfridges for an evening shopping spree. They stop at a table where several bottles are displayed. The perfume in question, “straight from Paris,” is Caron Tabac Blond. The choice is historically accurate: Ernest Daltroff created this provocative perfume in 1919. According to Fragrantica, Tabac Blond is “a homage to women’s liberation,” combining “leathery top notes usually found in men’s fragrances with an eternally feminine floral bouquet.” It was a fragrance for women who smoked cigarettes, seen at the time as “the perfect symbol of freedom”.
Even the box that Harry gives Nancy is historically accurate: made of gold cardboard, it’s embellished with a matching silk tassel.
Box and perfume bottle make another appearance when Harry visits Nancy’s flat, now empty. She’s left them on her vanity table, symbols of a love story which is over. The bottle is similar to the original but the original front label didn’t include the name of the perfume and the brand.
Endeavour S03E03 (Prey)
There are several beauty products and fragrance bottles on the dressing table of Georgina Mortmaigne (Stefanie Martini).
The first bottle on the left is Yardley Old English Lavender, an aromatic fougère fragrance launched in 1913.
The ribbed octagonal crystal bottle with an octagonal black bakelite stopper is a spectacular edition of Eau de Lanvin Arpège 85°. The fragrance by Andre Fraysse and Paul Vacher was created in 1927, and the name chosen by Marguerite Lanvin.
The ivory and pink round box contains Coty L’Aimant dusting powder. The fragrance with the same name was launched in 1927.
The Path S01E06 (Breaking and Entering)
Sara Lane (Michelle Monaghan) decides to visit her estranged sister Tessa when she’s not at home. She goes through the rooms of her beautiful New York apartment, bedroom included. On a dresser we get a very close view of some beauty products.
The lip pencil is Bite Beauty High Pigment. I’m a bit on the fence when it comes to the exact shade. It could be Pomegranate, Cranberry or even Quince. The white nail polish is Orly Color Blast in Snow Queen from the Frozen collection. Last but not least, there’s a bottle of Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse multi-purpose dry oil, made of macadamia, hazelnut, borage, almond, camellia and St. John’s wort oils.
Sara is so fascinated by her sister’s lifestyle that she puts her lip colour on. Later, after visiting the bathroom and seeing all the anti-depressants her sister takes, she will change her mind.

Shirley Manson at the Hairdresser’s (2016)
Garbage’s front-woman, Shirley Manson, recently posted this picture on her Facebook account. Her hair stylist Sammy cut her pink hair into a perfect bob. Lovely! One of the products he used on her was Joseph Martin Hair French Argan oil.
Maps to the Stars (2014)
Havana Segrand (Julianne Moore) has got quite a perfume collection: the marble top of her dressing table is pretty busy.
On the left, there’s a bottle of Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey, the perfume “as clear as water spring” created by Jacques Cavallier in 1992.
There’s another perfume by Cavallier, the iconic corset-shaped bottle of Jean-Paul Gaultier Classique, a sweet powdery scent launched in 1993.
Two Prada bottles can be seen, too. One is Infusion de Fleur d’Oranger, launched in 2009, and the other is Candy, created by Daniela Andrier and launched in 2011.
There’s a bottle of Gucci by Gucci, a fruity fragrance created by Ilias Ermenidis in 2008.
Vivienne Westwood’s trademark globe encircled by a ring is the stopper of Boudoir, a chypre floral perfume created by Martin Gras and launched in 1998.
Last but not least, there are two versions of Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, the oriental woody fragrance created by Jacques Polge and launched in 2001 – the classic bottle and the twist-and-spray white and gold atomiser.
When the same dressing table appears in another scene, there are other two bottles on it.
One is the ring-shaped bottle of Boucheron Pour Femme, a white floral perfume created by Francis Deleamont and Jean-Pierre Bethouart in 1989.
The other one is the hot pink bottle of Creed Spring Flower, a fresh fruity and floral fragrance created for Audrey Hepburn by Olivier Creed (6th generation) and launched in 2006.
Les diaboliques (1955)
Nicole Horner (Simone Signoret) is a teacher at a private school, where she gets involved into a dangerous love triangle. She’s a cool plotter and an elegant lady: she navigates the stormy waters of the plot wearing trench coats, pencil skirt-shirt-cardigan combos, belted dresses and chic sunglasses. She’s a pragmatic woman, so it’s not a surprise that she uses eau de cologne as rubbing alcohol. In the scene above, she is about to give a sedative shot to poor Christina Delassalle and takes some liquid from a bottle sitting on a dresser.
The bottle in question happens to be a Coty one, with the trademark fluted details. We can’t identify the exact perfume from the front label or from the colour of the stopper (since the film was shot in black and white), but we can make some assumptions.
Judging from the shape of the label, it could be the cologne Cordon Rouge or Cordon Vert, originally launched in the early 1900s. In the 1930s/1940s most of Coty colognes had this bottle, so this one could also contain L’aimant.
Endeavour S01E01 (Girl)
There’s a box of Colgate Halo shampoo on the shelf of the barber shop where Denis Bradley (Alan Morrissey) gets a haircut.
Sons of Anarchy S05E09 (Andare Pescare)
Tara (Maggie Siff) visits Otto (Kurt Sutter) in hospital and brings him his favourite perfume, the one worn by his (now dead) lover Luann. Described by Gemma as smelling “like cum and patchouli,” it’s the only fragrance Otto wanted Luann to wear. No surprise he asks Tara to wear it for him. The scene where he sniffs her wrist is pure perfume fetishism, a very intimate moment.
