The Day of the Jackal (1973)

The drugstore the Jackal (Edward Fox) visits is full of interesting bottles.

On the wall right behind the main counter there’s a poster advertising Victor Acqua di Selva. A factice bottle of the same fragrance can be seen on the counter.

In the glass cabinet behind the counter there’s a Christian Dior houndstooth bottle. Impossible to tell what fragrance it contained.

On the counter on the right there are so many bottles! Among them, the beautiful fluted flacon of Lucien Lelong Gardenia.

Next to it, the heart-shaped bottle of Guerlain Chamade.

The camera angle changes and more bottles are revealed.

On a glass shelf there’s a spray bottle of Chanel No. 5 eau de parfum.

Next to Chamade there’s a Guerlain flacon montre, but the colourful disk on white background was replaced with an odd label that looks absolutely wrong. I wonder what the prop masters were thinking…

On a glass shelf there’s Elizabeth Arden Blue Grass dusting powder.

In the mirrored cabinet behind the Jackal there are some bottles of Chanel eau de cologne and Lanvin Eau Arpège.

If you’re wondering what hairdye the Jackal buys, wonder no more: it’s Clairol Loving Care.

Day Out of Days (2015)

There are several beauty products in Mia’s bathroom cabinet.

On the top shelf there’s a bottle of MCMC Noble fragrance, created by Anne McClain and launched in 2009.

On the same shelf there’s a jar of Iwilla Remedy My Skin Glows vegan nourishing cream.

Another product of the same brand –  I Love My Armpits deodorant in Baby Powder – can be seen on the middle shelf.

On the same shelf there’s a bottle of Sinful Colors nail polish.

On the bottom shelf there’s a bottle of Hamadi Organics shea leave-in moisturizing styling cream.

Last, a tube of MAC lipstick.

Hanyo (2010)

Most of the beauty products on Hae-ra’s vanity are by the French brand Sisley Paris.

Half-hidden among other bottles there’s Phyto-Blanc Le Concentré pure bright activating serum.

In the central part of the table there are three tubes of Phyto Lip Shine lipstick.

Next to the lipsticks there’s a pump bottle of Phyto Teint Éclat long-lasting fluid foundation.

Behind the fluid foundation there’s a bottle of PhytoBlanc lightening toning lotion with botanical extracts.

Next there are two products for the eye area – the gentle eye and lip make-up remover and the eye contour mask.

On the far right side of the vanity there’s a tube of Eau de Campagne moisturizing body lotion.

Mozzarella Stories (2011)

There are two interesting perfumes in Autilia’s bathroom. The tall bottle on the left is L’eau d’Issey by Issey Miyake, the floral aquatic masterpiece by Jacques Cavallier that was launched in 1992. The drop-shaped bottle on the left is a more recent product – Givenchy Ange ou Démon eau de parfum, an amber floral fragrance created by Olivier Cresp and Jean-Pierre Bethouart and launched in 2006.

Pu bu (2021)

Lo Pin-wen (Alyssa Chia) is getting ready to go out on a date. There are some interesting beauty products on her bathroom shelf.

There’s Diptyque Baies candle in a black ceramic glass.

On its right there’s a white bottle of L’Erbolario Camellia shower gel.

On the washbasin counter there’s Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey summer eau de toilette, a limited edition from 2012.

Bones and All (2022)

When Maren (Taylor Russell) goes to a drugstore to buy a shampoo, we get a nice selection of 1980s products.

On the top shelf, on the left there are some bottles of Silkience conditioner.

The black bottle is Suave Salon Formula conditioner.

Other Suave products follow: the white bottle with purple and sage green logo is Suave Daily Clarifying conditioner. The metallic blue bottle contains Suave Frequent Use conditioner.

Next, there’s Suave Full Body shampoo.

The bottle that Maren selects is Suave moisturizing conditioner.

On the right side of the shelf there are some bottles of Rave unscented hairspray.

More Suave shampoos can be seen in the bottom shelf, starting from the left. Among them, Suave moisturizing shampoo.

There are also some bottles of Head & Shoulders shampoo.

The green bottles contain Clairol Small Miracle extra-body conditioner. Next, more Silkience bottles (the product they contain is unclear).

The blue bottles on the right contain Finesse conditioner. Last, another haircare product, this time by Prell.

Close-up on the Suave conditioner that Maren decides to buy.

Revolutionary Road (2008)

There’s a Guerlain flacon bouchon coeur on Milly’s dressing table.

Reading the front label is impossible, but I guess the bottle contains Mitsouko, one of the most popular creations of the Parisian maison, released in 1919.

On the left side of the table there’s a tin bottle of Kerkoff Djer Kiss talcum.

Island of Lost Souls (1932)

There are many generic perfume bottles on Lota’s dressing table, but there’s one which cannot be ignored.

It’s the wonderful flacon bouchon coeur by Guerlain! Designed by Raymond Guerlain in collaboration with Baccarat, it was originally created to house extraits of three fragrances by Jacques Guerlain – L’Heure Bleue (1912), Fol Arôme (1912) and Mitsouko (1919).

All of them were already on the market when the film was made, but which one was so popular in the U.S.A. to appear as a prop in a controversial [1] science fiction horror film? I would personally go with Mitsouko.

The two atomisers on the left are by DeVilbiss.

[1] The film, violent and gruesome, was heavily censored for years.
