The Shards S01E05 (Murder on the Dancefloor)

There are some interesting beauty products on the dressing table of Tony Cruz, the host of Dance Off!,a dancing competition for teenagers televised nationwide.

On the far left side there’s a bottle of English Leather moisturizing after shave. I couldn’t find the exact bottle, but the one above is pretty similar.

There’s also a plastic bottle of Vitalis hair tonic.

The beautiful bottle with brown stopper sitting at the centre of the table is a bit of a mystery. It houses a fragrance by Prince Matchabelli, although being more precise is impossible: the same bottle was used to contain at least three different fragrances. The one above is Cachet, a chypre floral fragrance launched in 1970.

Wind Song is a warm spicy fragrance launched in 1953.

Last but not least, Aviance, a green floral fragrance launched in 1975.

The atomiser with black and white paisley pattern is Avon Patterns, a fragrance launched in 1969.

Glow S03E08 (Keep Ridin’)

Bash Howard (Chris Lowell), heir to the Howard Foods business empire and producer of GLOW, is one of my favourite characters of the show, so a scene set in his bathroom was very much welcomed by yours truly, who couldn’t wait to take a look at his beauty products.

First on the left of the marble top, there’s a bottle of Ralph Lauren Polo, the aromatic fragrance created in 1978 by Carlos Benaim. No surprises here: Bash is a flamboyant ring announcer and commentator, but he’s very conservative when it comes to appearances. A relatively traditional eau de toilette like Polo suits his character.

His hairstyle is very distinctive and trendy, so it’s obvious there are lots of styling products. There are two bottles of Vitalis hair tonic and an array of L’Oreal Studio Line items (hairspray, two mousses and gel). The choice of using Studio Line is excellent: this hairstyling line was very popular in the 1980s! I liked using Gelling Curls.

There’s a display of Pinaud Clubman talc bottles (both old and new packaging) by the door; there are a bottle of Vitalis hair tonic and a large Barbicide disinfecting jar on the shelf by the mirror.
