Chambre 212 (2019)

There are some interesting beauty products in Maria and Richard’s bathroom.

In the glass cabinet there’s a small bottle of Chanel No. 5, a Diptyque candle box and Chanel Démaquillant Yeux Intense gentle biphase eye make-up remover in its box.

On a shelf by the mirror there are other two Chanel products. One is Chanel Pour Monsieur eau de toilette, created by Henri Robert and launched in 1955; the other is Hydra Beauty camellia night mask.

False Positive (2021)

When Adrian (Justin Theroux) “saves” his wife Lucy (Ilana Glazer) from an allucinating bath, we can see a Diptyque bottle on the tiled counter.

After much pondering (the back of the bottle is not clearly visible), I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s the eau de parfum version of Philosykos, created by Olivia Giacobetti and launched in 2012. The fact that the illustration includes a fountain tank (reminiscent of the bath tub where the protagonist hallucinates) reinforces my idea.

On the tiled shelf over the tub there’s another Diptyque product – a Pomander candle.

Thanks to Alessandra for the screencaps and ids.

Marriage Story (2019)

marriagestory_bornunicorn (1)When Nicole (Scarlett Johansson) first meets her soon-to-be lawyer Nora (Laura Dern), we can see a Diptyque candle on the metal table by the white leather sofa. Too far from us, though, so it’s still hard to tell what candle it is.

Trent Reznor’s Love for Scented Candles

In 1994 the founder and frontman of Nine Inch Nails expressed his love for scented candles, which – according to him – were infinitely better than drugs.

diptyquecandles_bornunicorn.jpgFast forward to 2014: Reznor was portrayed working in Atticus Ross’ studio. Guess what was sitting next to him… A Diptyque candle! Unfortunately, there’s no way to say what scent it was, but this is the evidence we needed (in case we needed it) that his passion for scented candles is definitely here to stay!

Thanks to the lovely girls of Diptyque Detectives for first posting about this.
