But there’s another item that has captured my attention: a Guerlain flacon montre.
The teal disk tells us it’s Mitsouko. Not your ordinary summer scent, but it’s not surprising: Giulia (Franca Valeri) is a chic/snobbish character, so summer can’t stop her from wearing impeccable outfits and French perfumes. I like the touch given by the prop master (a yellow pump) to customize the bottle.

There’s a bottle of Roberts Acqua distillata alle rose (the most popular Italian rosewater) on Silvia Hacherman’s vanity.
I haven’t watched Call Me by Your Name by Luca Guadagnino yet, but I’ve kept the best picture from the set for last. The author is – again – Giulio Ghirardi, who gave us the perfect shot of a dressing table, covered with some fabric from the Middle East.
Among the several perfume bottles, I’ve spotted Christian Dior Eau Sauvage, a 1966 creation by Edmond Roudnitska.
Next to it, there’s Acqua di Parma Colonia, the first fragrance of the Italian brand, created in 1916.
The blue tin unmistakably contains Nivea Creme, a product created in Germany but incredibly popular in Italy.
Another quintessentially Italian product is Roberts Acqua distillata alle rose, a toner first created in 1867.
Last but not least, there’s a bottle of Vanderbilt by Gloria Vanderbilt, a huge commercial success created by Sophia Grojsman in 1982. It’s impossible not to have a memory of it, if you were born in the 1970s/1980s: this white floral fragrance was everywhere!

My attention was caught by the square glass bottle sitting on the left of her dressing table. It’s an Atkinsons cologne, very popular in Italy. I’m not sure if it’s English Lavender or Gold Medal, though.
I’ve also spotted another popular drugstore beauty product, Roberts rosewater. You may remember the same bottle was seen in a film starring Vitti, Modesty Blaise (1966) by Joseph Losey.
There’s a bottle of Roberts rosewater on Claudia Cardinale’s dressing table. The film director, Luchino Visconti, was sitting by her side, checking her hairstyle. The picture was taken by Angelo Frontoni on the set of Il Gattopardo.
