We return to Bret’s bathroom. Most of the products in it were spotted in the first two episodes.
The spray can with yellow and orange disc on the front is Dial long-lasting deodorant.
At this point it’s clear Guy Laroche Drakkar Noir is his signature scent. Unfortunately this fragrance hasn’t been given any space in the narration. It’s a choice that makes sense, though: Bret is an internal narrator, but he’s not particularly reliable, and he tends to hold back specific personal details, especially those regarding his parents. He observes and notices everything about the people around him, but he is rarely the object of someone’s observation, besides Robert’s.
The half-hidden spray can with yellow cap is Gillette The Dry Look hairspray.
The half-visible jar on the right is Noxzema medicated skin cream.
When Hank (Dean Norris) and Steven (Steven Michael Quezada) find a car abandoned by drug dealers, there’s a very peculiar smell in it. Hank compares it to Drakkar Noir, the Guy Laroche classic fougère perfume created by Pierre Wargnye and launched in 1982.
The perfume that has been mentioned and seen in the show several times – Drakkar Noir by Guy Laroche – appears at a fashion photoshoot in New York, where David Meyers is working as assistant.
Nash (Ennis Esmer) and other members of the Red Oaks Club staff are having an outdoor party. When asked what his blood tastes like to mosquitoes, he replies: “Cardamom and Drakkar Noir.”

Sam Sylvia (Marc Maron) asks the wannabe wrestlers what their “special abilities” are. Sheila the She-Wolf (Gayle Rankin) explains she has “a very acute sense of smell.” Sam tries her: what cologne is he wearing? She replies: “Drakkar Noir.”
Sam’s question is tricky, though: he’s not actually wearing Drakkar Noir, but he has sprayed it on his clothes, something he does when he forgets to do his laundry.
