There are two Avon fragrances on a dresser in Nancy Wheeler’s bedroom.
One is a teddy bear decanter with gold stopper (the bear’s head). It’s impossible to know what Avon fragrance it houses, because the same bottle was used for different scents.
The second bottle first made its appearance in Season 1: it’s Miss Lollypop cologne mist, a gourmand (candy) fragrance launched in 1967.

Will (Noah Schnapp), Mike (Finn Wolfhard) and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) are at the Starcourt Mall sampling perfumes. They haven’t suddenly turned into scent enthusiasts, but are trying to find something Mike can buy for Eleven as a gift.
The white boxes with pastel touches and “draped” bottles are Louis Féraud Vivage. This perfume, created by Jean-Pierre Bethouart and launched in 1984, was the result of a collaboration between the French fashion designer and Avon. Heavy on musk and ylang-ylang, this is definitely not a perfume for a young girl.
In the window under the counter more Avon perfumes are displayed.
The empty (!) bottle with golden stopper is the thimble, previously seen in Barb’s bathroom. The same bottle was used for different fragrances, so it’s unclear what this one contains.
The bottle with black stopper is a men’s fragrance, the musky Black Suede, launched in 1980.
On the right, the bottle with silver “hook” stopper is Tempo, a woody fragrance launched in 1978.
Last, hidden among boxes, there’s the unmistakable flat-top bottle of a true 1980s classic – Guy Laroche Drakkar Noir, the aromatic woody fragrance created by Pierre Wargnye and launched in 1982, incredibly popular all through the decade.
Karen Wheeler (Cara Buono) is a conflicted woman: she cares a lot about her family, even if her marriage is unhappy, but she can barely resist the bad boy charm of Billy Hargrove. He’s invited her at a motel, so in this scene she’s getting ready to join him there.
The red lipstick she’s applying is Elizabeth Arden Lip Spa.
The hairspray reflected on the mirror is Rayette Aquanet.
When she removes her wedding rings, we can see a Christian Dior compact, probably containing eyeshadows.
Fabergé Farrah Fawcett hairspray, which had such an important part in Season 2, is back! This time, Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) uses it as weapon against the “mysterious” forces that are making all his robots move in unison.
Winnie (Caroline Arapoglou) is a friend of Karen: they spend their time at the Hawkins community pool and share a passion for Billy, who’s working there as lifeguard. When he gets to the pool to start his shift, she checks her make-up on a Cover Girl compact.
Karen Wheeler (Cara Buono) is spending some time at the Hawkins community pool with her friends. Her tanning lotion is by Hawaiian Tropic.
Nancy has spent the night with Jonathan and she’s in a hurry to get to work. When the camera quickly pans over a dresser in Jonathan’s bedroom, we can see a perfume bottle that definitely belongs to Nancy: it’s Cacharel Anais Anais eau de parfum, a romantic white floral scent created in 1978 by Roger Pellegrino, Robert Gonnon, Paul Leger and Raymond Chaillan.
Steve Harrington is now the male role model Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) needs in his life. He’s also his style icon, too: he uses the boy’s secret weapon – Fabergé Farrah Fawcett hairspray – to impress the attendees of the Snow Ball at school.
Let me be pedantic for a moment here: I don’t think the can Dustin is using is the original one. If you look closely, the writing on it is different from the writing on the original can. So they took the writing of the non-aerosol version and put it on the aerosol one. Good job!
Billy Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery) is the bad boy par excellence in this season. He hates everybody, is rude to everybody but loves himself. A lot. The glimpse we get of his dressing table reveals interesting products he uses as part of his beauty routine.
He uses the same AquaNet hairspray Kali and Dottie use on Eleven in S02E07.
He also has a bottle of Breckset setting lotion.
The third hair product he has in his bedroom is Alberto styling mousse.
The fragrance he uses is Paco Rabanne Pour Homme after shave, created by Jean Martel and launched in 1973.
On his dresser there’s also a bottle of Aramis by Estee Lauder, a perfume created by Bernard Chant and launched in 1966. The choice is historically accurate but I feel Aramis is a bit too conservative for a rebel like Billy.
