Basic Instinct (1992)

Nick (Michael Douglas) is spending the night at Catherine’s so, when he goes into her huge bathroom, we know some intriguing products will be featured.

The first beauty product I’ve noticed is a spray can of Evian mineral water.

The tall pump bottle is Very Emollient body lotion by Alba Botanica. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find any picture of it online.

Next there’s a Clinique anti-perspirant roll-on deodorant.

This is a real treat: we get to see the fragrance used by Catherine! It’s Montana Parfum de Peau in the beautiful spiral bottle (a stunning design by Serge Mansau). This leather fragrance, created by Jean Guichard, was launched in 1986 and it still is one of the most aenigmatic scents of that decade; that is why I think it beautifully compliments the protagonist’s mysterious and wild personality.

The container on the far right is still a mystery: when I first saw it, I was sure it was part of the Parfum de Peau line (a body lotion or talcum powder), but it’s not. If you have any idea about its identity, please drop me a line.

Thanks to Sue Koczorowski for submitting this post. Thanks to Kelly and O in the comments for the Alba Botanica id.

Windfall (2022)

There’s a lovely selection of Chanel perfumes, skincare and make-up on the Wife’s dressing table.

First on the left, an elegant jar of frosted glass with glossy black and gold cap containing the No. 5 body lotion.

Next, No. 5 eau de toilette in the tall bottle with black stopper. Not sure if this is a vintage splash bottle, the modern spray bottle or the spray refill for the atomiser.

There’s also a bottle of Hydra Beauty lotion.

The only item of make-up is Les Beiges Teint Belle Mine Naturelle healthy-glow foundation.

Last on the far right, a classic spray bottle of No. 5 eau de parfum.

Thanks to Jessica for first posting this on her Instagram account and for allowing me to share it.

Marry Me (2022)

Colin (John Bradley) is sitting backstage while Kat is performing live. There are some interesting products on the dressing table in front of him.

The tall bottle with gold stopper is from the Global Therapy line by Franck Provost.

The aqua pump bottle next to it is Styling 3 wet-look gel by Franck Provost.

The elegant white jar contains Tatcha The Silk Cream.

Last, the black jar is another Franck Provost product – the Styling 2 modeling wax.

Tall Girl 2 (2022)

Jodi (Ava Michelle) is sitting at a dressing table after performing as Kim McAfee in the musical Bye Bye Birdie.

There are several beauty products on the dressing table.

The tall brown bottle on the left is Hask Argan Oil repairing shampoo.

Right in front of Jodi there are two Noxzema products. The tube is the anti-blemish daily scrub, while the tall jar is the deep cleansing cream.

The pink tube with green cap is none other than Maybelline Great Lash mascara.

The black tube is Wet n Wild Mega Last matte lip colour.

When Jack (Griffin Gluck) joins Jodi backstage, we can see a couple more products.

There’s a can of TRESemmé Tres mousse.

Last but not least, two bottles of OPI nail polishes.

Qualcosa di nuovo (2016)

Lucia (Paola Cortellesi) is a jazz singer who often travels for work. In two different scenes set in hotels we get to know her perfume of choice, in a beautiful black bottle with sculptural gold stopper.

It’s Soir d’Orient by Sisley, a warm spicy fragrance created by Olivier Pescheux and launched in 2015.

In the second picture we can see another Sisley product on Lucia’s bedside table – the grapefruit toning lotion.

Friends with Money (2006)

lancome_resolutiondcontraxol_bornunicornOlivia (Jennifer Aniston) is obsessed with Résolution D-Contraxol, a Lancôme anti-age treatment. She got several samples at different department stores but they’re not enough: when she sees a full-size jar of it in the bathroom of one of her clients (she’s a maid), she doesn’t think twice and takes it home.

In the bathroom there’s also Bumble & Bumble Prep conditioning spray.
