Gli indifferenti (1964)

Lisa (Shelley Winters) and her friend Maria Grazia (Paulette Goddard) are spending some time together while relaxing: they discuss about the upcoming social events they want to go to.

On a small table behind Lisa there’s a splash bottle of Guerlain Eau de Cologne Impériale, created by Pierre François Pascal Guerlain for Empress Eugenie in 1853.

On a table between the two friends there’s a bottle of Acqua distillata alle rose by Roberts, a classic rose water that’s available everywhere in Italy.

Confusi e felici (2014)

There are two fragrance bottles in Marcello’s bathroom.

The one with the gold stopper is a fragrance by L’Artisan Parfumeur (old packaging): the sticker on the bottle is unreadable but it’s pink, so it could be Jour de Fête, created in 2004 by Olivia Giacobetti.

The second bottle is unmistakable: it’s Hermès Terre d’Hermès, one of the masterpieces by Jean-Claude Ellena, launched in 2006.

A casa nostra (2006)

There’s an empty bottle of Acqua di Giò by Giorgio Armani on a counter in Elodie’s hotel bathroom. This is the original bottle of the fruity floral fragrance created by Edouard Fléchier and launched in 1995.

One of my fondest memories from that decade: I have personally never worn it but my sister did and she loved it.

On the same counter there’s also a bottle of Tommy by Tommy Hilfiger, a citrus aromatic fragrance created by Annie Buzantian and Alberto Morillas and launched in 1995.

Thanks to LePetitCivet for the Tommy id.

Tre piani (2021)

Dora (Margherita Buy) helps Monica (Alba Rohrwacher) give a bath to her newborn baby. There are several interesting products in the room.

First, the unexpected presence of Hermès Concentré d’Orange Verte on the wall shelf. This citrus unisex fragrance was created by Jean Guichard and launched in 2004.

The white bottle on the bath-tub shelf is an Italian baby-care product, BabyGella body wash.

The red bottle with white stopper on the glass wall shelf is Clarins Eau Dynamisante, created by Jacques Courtin-Clarins and launched in 1987.

The green bottle is the iconic Roberts Borotalco talcum powder.

The bottle with white round stopper is Chicco Acqua di Colonia, an eau de cologne for children.

Tre piani (2021)

Dora (Margherita Buy) is taking a bath in Luigi’s bathroom. The three bottles behind her are Italian drugstore products.

The transparent bottles are both by Omia Laboratoires: one is the aloe vera body wash, the other is the tea tree oil shampoo.

The blue bottle is the Blue Iris foam bath by Perlier.

Padroni di casa (2012)

padronidicasa_bornunicorn (2)While Fausto (Gianni Morandi) is getting ready to perform at his comeback concert, we get a glimpse of his bathroom. There are two interesting bottles by the washbasin.

chanelalluresensuelle_bornunicorn.jpgOne is Allure Sensuelle by Chanel. This flanker of Allure (launched in 1996) was created in 2005 by Jacques Polge.

acquadibolgheri_bornunicorn.jpgThe other is Acqua di Bolgheri by Dr. Taffi. This fragrance, launched in 2008, establishes a connection with the film plot, set in the Appenine Mountains between Emilia Romagna and Tuscany. The Tuscan village it is named after had a key role in the life and works of Giosuè Carducci, one of the most important Italian poets [1].

[1] Bolgheri is famously mentioned in the 1874 ode Davanti San Guido.

Qualcosa di nuovo (2016)

Lucia (Paola Cortellesi) is a jazz singer who often travels for work. In two different scenes set in hotels we get to know her perfume of choice, in a beautiful black bottle with sculptural gold stopper.

It’s Soir d’Orient by Sisley, a warm spicy fragrance created by Olivier Pescheux and launched in 2015.

In the second picture we can see another Sisley product on Lucia’s bedside table – the grapefruit toning lotion.

E’ stata la mano di Dio (2021)

There’s a bottle of Boucheron Pour Femme eau de parfum in Armando’s bathroom. He’s a smuggler who always lives on the edge and causes trouble, so this is a surprising choice, more unexpected than the statue of Padre Pio in the plastic bucket.

This quintessentially 1980s perfume was created by Francis Deleamont and Jean-Pierre Bethouart and launched in 1988.

When Omar (Giuseppe Dave Seke) hides in Rico’s bathroom to escape his fury, we can see some perfume bottles on a shelf.

The white bottle is Camelia by L’Erbolario, an amber floral fragrance launched in 2014.

The tall powder pink bottle is Yves Saint Laurent Opium Vapeurs de Parfum in the eau de toilette lègère version, launched in 2012.

Last, the tall splash bottle with white plastic stopper is Rochas Madame Rochas eau de cologne. The eau de parfum version, created by Guy Robert, was launched in 1960.
