Judi Dench’s Dressing Room

Gemma Levine took this backstage picture in 1985: Judi Dench was getting ready to perform as Amy O’Connell in the Royal Shakespeare Company production of Harley Granville-Barker’s Waste at the Lyric Theatre in London.

diorissimo_houndstooth_bornunicornOn the shelf in front of her there are many bottles; among them, the unmistakable houndstooth pattern characterising Dior cologne and eau de toilette bottles. There’s no way to tell exactly what scent this was, but we know that this bottle was used for classic creations like Miss Dior, Diorama, Diorella, Diorling and Diorissimo. I can see her wearing the lily-of-the-valley triumph that is Diorissimo. What’s your guess?

The Runaways (2010)

Lots of pictures of the British artist can be seen on the walls of her bedroom; among them, the famous picture where he’s sitting at his dressing table and applying his scene make-up. You may remember a Dior perfume in a houndstooth bottle appears in that picture.

Lena Hall’s Dressing Room

The American actress and singer Lena Hall published this picture on her Instagram account. She was dressed as Yitzhak, one of the protagonists of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. She had this role in the musical’s revival on Broadway, thanks to which she won a Tony Award as Best Featured Actress in a Musical in 2014. In the picture she was holding a bottle of Dior Fahrenheit and in the caption she mused: “Want to know Yitzhak smell?”. I don’t know if she really wore the perfume on stage, but the iconic woody Dior perfume would have been perfect for her character.
