American Horror Story S12E02 (Rockabye)

Anna (Emma Roberts) checks her make-up on a gold Stratton compact.

This is the second vintage sighting in this season, which is unusual because it is set in present day. I wonder if these details are leading somewhere in terms of plot or character development.

Thanks to Hillary, the lovely curator of the one and only Makeup Museum, for the id.

American Horror Story S12E03 (When the Bough Breaks)

When Anna receives a gift basket from Hamish, we can see some interesting beauty products in it.

The two pump bottles on the left are Soap Cherie body oils – Orchid and Morning Rose.

The larger bottle is Aesop geranium leaf body cleanser.

There’s another Soap Cherie product: it’s the Magnolia body lotion.

Last, there’s a bottle of Malin+Goetz advanced renewal moisturizer.

American Horror Story S12E01 (Multiply Thy Pain)

Talia (Juliana Canfield) wears a lipstick in a beautiful red shade.

From the studded gold tube we can see it’s a vintage product.

It’s a Max Factor lipstick from the 1940s.

The brand has been endorsed by a huge number of cinema stars over the years. In the specific case of this lipstick, advertised as “the most wonderful lipstick in the world”, in 1947 it was endorsed by Lana Turner as Ginny Marshland from the film Cass Timberlane (1947) by George Sidney.

Talia gives the lipstick to Anna (Emma Roberts). Later in the episode, the protagonist wears it to attend a vernissage at her husband’s art gallery.

Although the lipstick actually worn by Talia and Anna is most definitely not the Max Factor one, I appreciate the fact that the vintage blue red shade was replicated.

Shameless S10E01 (We Few, We Lucky Few, We Band of Gallaghers!)

Debbie owns a secret storage locker where she keeps expensive clothes, accessories and beauty products. Her intention is to return all these goods after using them for a while.

The tall pink bottle on the left is Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia, a floral fruity fragrance launched in 2012.

Next to it there’s Hèrmes Twilly d’Hermès, a floral fragrance created by Christine Nagel and launched in 2017.

There three bottles sitting on the right drawer. The first from the left is Jimmy Choo eau de parfum, a chypre fruity fragrance created by Olivier Polge and launched in 2011.

The pink bottle houses Versace Bright Crystal Absolu, another floral fruity fragrance, created by Alberto Morillas and launched in 2013.

The third one is Yves Saint Laurent Opium, the 2009 version of the 1977 amber spicy classic, originally created by Jean Amic, Jean-Louis Sieuzac and Raymond Chaillan.

Among the make-up products, we can see a Dior compact.

There’s a bottle of Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear liquid foundation.

There’s also a MAC pressed powder compact.

On the other side of the table there’s a NARS compact, which could contain blush or single eyeshadow.

As Good As It Gets (1997)

Obsessive-compulsive disorders can have different forms and expressions. In the case of Melvin (Jack Nicholson), it’s keeping his bathroom cabinet stocked with Neutrogena soap bars and using more than one to wash his hands.

Melvin uses the transparent facial bar – fragrance-free, dye-free, hypoallergenic.

Prince: A Private View (2017)

This portrait of Prince in his dressing room was taken by Afshin Shahidi, his personal photographer. It is included in a book – Prince: A Private View – released in 2017, along with unpublished photos and stories about the long collaboration between the photographer and the artist.

Among the many products on the dressing table, we can see a bottle of Olay refreshing toner. It differs from the picture above, so I do believe it’s an earlier (or later) version of it.

Moving to the centre of the table, I can see a bottle of L’Oreal True Match liquid foundation.

The most interesting item sits on the back of the table, right in front of the mirror, and it’s Thierry Mugler Cologne, a citrus/white floral fragrance created by Alberto Morillas and launched in 2001. In case you were wondering what fragrance Prince wore, now you know.

Empire of Light (2022)

Hilary (Olivia Colman) is trying some fragrances at a drugstore.

On a shelf behind her and on the one in front of her several boxes of Moara Shira Green Aire are visible.

On the shelf on the far right there are some bottles of Maurer & Wirtz 4711 Original Eau de Cologne.

The bottles right in front of her are Fabergé Darling, an aromatic floral fragrance launched in 1982, and J. Casanova Rumours, which she’s spraying in this scene.

Although I have found very little to no information at all about these perfumes, I can imagine they were quite cheap and popular among people who wanted to wear a fragrance but couldn’t afford to spend much.

Lady Gaga’s Dressing Table (2023)

Lady Gaga is currently busy with rehearsals for the upcoming jazz & piano concerts at the Park MGM in Las Vegas. She recently posted this picture on her Instagram account, thanks to which she showed what’s on her dressing table.

On the left there’s a bottle of Dr. Bronner’s hemp lavender pure-castile soap.

There’s also a pump bottle of Eucerin moisturising lotion.

The tall white bottle behind her tea cup is Kenzo Amour eau de parfum, an amber vanilla fragrance created by Daphné Bugey and Olivier Cresp and launched in 2006.

Thanks to lunanocta for submitting this post, and to Ale and Jane Daly for the Eucerin id.
