A New Kind of Love (1963)
Samantha Blake (Joanne Woodward) is a fashion designer who receives a make-over. A blonde wig and sexy clothes call for a sexy perfume, so two Lanvin Arpège products can be spotted on a shelf in her bedroom – a refillable spray atomizer and a talcum powder bottle.
The Women (2008)
Pride (2014)
One of the most hilarious scenes of this film is set in a London leather bar, taken by storm by a group of women from Dulais, Wales. Gail (Nia Gwynne) and Gwen (Menna Trussler) ask a rubber man (Nick Blair) how he gets into his latex catsuit. He obviously uses talcum powder, something that Gwen uses too, for a different purpose. She explains she uses lily-of-the-valley powder, such a classic British scent!
Gwen is a working-class lady, so I guess her talcum powder is a traditional product, not too fancy nor expensive. Taylor of London, Bronnley, Marks & Spencer, Morny and Yardley would be excellent choices.
The story is set in the 1980s: Gwen is an old lady, so she’s probably using a talcum powder she bought years before – Avon, Woodbury or Woods of Windsor.
Other vintage options could include powders by Margo’s, Penhaligon’s, the lovely Muguet des Bois by Coty or the posh Floris (I can’t really see Gwen wearing Floris, though).
Last but not least, I can totally see Gwen keeping this gorgeous box on her dressing table. The Crabtree & Evelyn dusting powder has a romantic packaging and speaks of past memories.
Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982)

Stacy Hamilton (Jennifer Jason Leigh) and Linda Barrett (Phoebe Cates) are applying Queen Helene Mint Julep masque on their faces.
On the busy dressing table there is a bottle of Fabergé Organics wheat germ oil and honey shampoo.
There’s also Estee Lauder Country Mist foundation.
And a black tube of Bain de Soleil sun lotion (or self-tanner).
Right in front of Linda there’s Tom’s of Maine Apple Honey roll-on deodorant, which I have found no reference picture for.
Thanks to Tammy and Gillian for the foundation and shampoo ids, and to Clayton for the deodorant id.
