Lilya 4-ever (2002)

When Lilya (Oksana Akinshina) gets to Sweden, for the one and only time in her life she has the chance to bask in the beauty of products at a duty-free shop.

On the left side of the screencap we can see a large selection of Clinique skincare.

Just below there are some products from the now-defunct haircare line by the same brand.

The girl is standing in front of a set of shelves and checks perfume bottles. On the top shelf a bottle of Kenzo is half-visible. This is a floral fragrance created by Françoise Caron and launched in 1998.

On the shelf below there are two Giorgio Armani fragrances. One is Acqua di Giò, a floral fruity fragrance created by Edouard Fléchier launched in 1995.

The other is Emporio Armani Lei, a floral fragrance by Daniela Andrier launched in 1998.

Lilya is interested in Classique by Jean Paul Gaultier, the best-selling fragrance by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud launched in 1993.

On the bottom shelf there are some boxes of Chloé, the white floral fragrance by Betty Busse launched in 1975.

When Lilya moves around the shop, we can see a large selection of Biotherm skincare and bodycare products. In the screencap above she’s checking some skincare by the Lancôme shelf.

She shows interest for Lancôme Bi-Facil eye make-up remover.

Triangle of Sadness (2022)

One of the most intriguing elements of the film is the opening scene, a model casting where we first meet Carl (Harris Dickinson). The boy shows the casting director his portfolio, which includes an advertising campaign for the (fictional) perfume Grande Ombre.

The black and white pictures remind me of the 2008 campaign for Giorgio Armani Acqua di Giò starring Lars Burmeister shot by Peter Lindbergh.

The bottle of Grand Ombre, with the distinctive round stopper, is reminiscent of Courregès fragrances but belongs to a real perfume – Stora Skuggan Fantôme de Maules, an aromatic green fragrance created by Tomas Hempel and launched in 2015.

In tune with the satirical tone and atmosphere of the movie, Carl will reunite with Grande Ombre: he will find a full bottle of the fragrance in a dump on the island where he’s stranded after the cruise ship he was sailing on sinks.

A casa nostra (2006)

There’s an empty bottle of Acqua di Giò by Giorgio Armani on a counter in Elodie’s hotel bathroom. This is the original bottle of the fruity floral fragrance created by Edouard Fléchier and launched in 1995.

One of my fondest memories from that decade: I have personally never worn it but my sister did and she loved it.

On the same counter there’s also a bottle of Tommy by Tommy Hilfiger, a citrus aromatic fragrance created by Annie Buzantian and Alberto Morillas and launched in 1995.

Thanks to LePetitCivet for the Tommy id.
