Thanks to my friend Jennifer for the face mist id.

Britney Spears’ Dressing Room (2015)

imageBritney recently posted a picture of her dressing room in Las Vegas, where she’s back with her Piece of Me show. Let’s see what’s on her dressing table, starting from the left.

narspropalette_bornunicornThere’s a NARS pro palette on the black nylon make-up bag. I wonder what is inside: blushes or eye-shadows?

bbdoesitallhairspray_bornunicorn

There are also a can of Klorane dry shampoo with nettle and one of Bumble and bumble Bb Does It All styling spray.

biodermasensibio_bornunicornThe tiny plastic bottle with pink cap is Bioderma Sensibio H2O make-up removing micelle solution.

macdazzleglass_bornunicornThere’s a tube of MAC Dazzleglass lipgloss, not sure about the exact shade.

giorgioarmani_luminoussilkfoundation_bornunicorn

There are also two bottles of Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation.

narsilluminators_bornunicornBehind the foundation bottles there’s a NARS illuminator. Judging from the colour, it could be Orgasm, Super Orgasm or Hot Sand.

altoidsspearmint_bornunicorn

Not beauty-related, but there’s also a tin box of Altoids Curiously Strong mints in Spearmint.

Thanks to Emily in the comments for the Klorane id.

Sam Smith’s Dressing Table

imageThe British singer Sam Smith recently posted this picture on his Instagram account. It was shot in Mexico City, where the singer attended the premiere of Sam Mendes’ Spectre, the new James Bond movie.

Le-LaboA bottle of Le Labo perfume can be seen on the table. It’s impossible to read the label, so we don’t know exactly what fragrance he wore. What do you think it’s his perfume of choice?

Thanks to my Instagram friend Mustapha for the id.

Monica Vitti’s Dressing Table (1961)

monicavitti_leclisse_bornunicornThis beautiful picture of Monica Vitti was taken by photographer Rodrigo Pais on August 1st, 1961 in Rome: the Italian actress was on the set of Michelangelo Antonioni’s L’eclisse.

atkinsons_englishlavender_bornunicorn

atkinsons_goldmedal_bornunicornMy attention was caught by the square glass bottle sitting on the left of her dressing table. It’s an Atkinsons cologne, very popular in Italy. I’m not sure if it’s English Lavender or Gold Medal, though.

I’ve also spotted another popular drugstore beauty product, Roberts rosewater. You may remember the same bottle was seen in a film starring Vitti, Modesty Blaise (1966) by Joseph Losey.

The tiny tube on her tablet is Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics lip tar. The exact shade she used is NSFW, described as true, balanced red.

Alanis Morissette’s Bathroom Altar (2015)

wpid-wp-1439494054113.jpgOn August 13th, 2015, the singer and songwriter Alanis Morissette posted this picture on her Twitter account, with the comment: “Never a missed opportunity to build this week’s altar in the bathroom w/some of my favorites”. The aforementioned altar includes three beauty/wellness products, a photo in a heart-shaped frame, a tiny statuette, a Daren Wilson vase with a feather in it, a candle holder and a glass pyramid with sand and shells in it.

speciesbythethousands_lovewhitemagicspray_bornunicornThe first beauty product is Love White Magic spray by Species by the Thousands, a Brooklyn-based shop. This contains distilled water, vodka and a mix of 100% natural essential oils (ylang ylang, palmarosa, lavender and geranium). It can be used during meditation, as room refresher or a personal misting spray.

lurk_TBPV1_bornunicornThe bottle with the gold cap is a perfume oil, TBPV1 by Lurk, another New York-based shop. This oil mixes floral and black pepper notes.

doterra_intune_bornunicornThe vial with the black cap contains dōTERRA InTune, a blend of essential oils, among which sandalwood, frankincense, lime, patchouli, ylang ylang and Roman chamomile.

Audrey Hepburn’s Dressing Room (1954)

audreyhepburn_bornunicorn

rochasfemme_vintage_bornunicornThere’s a box of Marcel Rochas Femme on Audrey Hepburn’s dressing table. This comes as a surprise: I can’t really see her wearing such a femme fatale perfume! It’s one of the masterpieces by Edmond Roudnitska, who created it in 1943: it’s a woody/warm spicy scent, with fruity accents of plum, peach and apricot. Its beautiful bottle was inspired by female curves, maybe those of Mae West, whom the French designer made a famous black lace corset for. It’s not a coincidence that black chantilly lace print decorates the oval box of the perfume. The box on Hepburn’s dressing table looks white, not lacy, though, so I guess what version of the perfume she had.

In this picture, taken by Mark Shaw, the actress was preparing for Ondine at the Forty-Sixth Street Theatre in New York. This picture was originally  published in Mademoiselle (June 1954 issue).
