Agent Carter S01E03 (Time And Tide)

agentcarters01e03_bornunicornThere are two interesting make-up items on Peggy Carter’s dressing table.

chenyu_cloudsilkad_bornunicornThe large gold box is Chen Yu Cloud Silk cake make-up refill, a compact foundation. I’ve always known this brand for its superglamourous advertisement campaigns and for its nail polishes, but I had no idea it made regular make-up, too. Furthermore, I had no idea it’s still in the business.

dorothyperkinsvintage_bornunicornOn the Cloud Silk compact there’s a smaller box whose lid reads “Dorothy Perkins”, a name which is still present on the market as a clothing brand. Back in the 1940s it produced make-up items, too. I don’t know exactly what the round box in the screencap above contained, but I guess it was rouge or face powder.

Agent Carter (2015)

hayleyatwell_besamelipstick_bornunicornHave you ever wondered what is the exact lipstick shade worn by Agent Margaret “Peggy” Carter (Hayley Atwell), the Marvel character who is among the founders of S.H.I.E.L.D.? The British actress, who’s currently filming the tv series Agent Carter, revealed it on her Twitter account. When it comes to retro and glamourous shades, there’s one way to go: Bésame Cosmetics. The lipstick worn by Hayley is Red Velvet, a 1946-inspired colour.

besame_redvelvet_bornunicornIt’s a deep red with a semi-matte finish, suitable for everyday wear. It’s one of the Bésame lipsticks I’ve tried, thanks to lovely samples I received from the American brand, and I can assure you it’s a fantastic colour. If you are red-lipstick lovers, you must have it in your collection.

How to Get Away with Murder S01E03 (Smile or Go to Jail)

shut-up-and-learn

macrubywoo_bornunicornA couple of weeks ago I binge-watched the ABC legal dramaHow to Get Away with Murder and I fell in love with the make-up of Bonnie Winterbottom (Liza Weil). It’s very similar to my everyday make-up, which means bare face and eyes but ruby red lips. The shade used on her is fantastic, so I turned to Twitter to ask the show’s make-up artist more about it. Sergio Lopez-Rivera was so kind to answer my question and revealed he uses Ruby Woo by MAC on the actress. This shade is among my favourites ever, but I must admit it looks more vibrant on Liza, probably because of her fair complexion, which makes the colour pop.

Dandy Mott (Finn Wittrock) buys some beauty stuff for the Tattler twins. His purchases include Bésame Cosmetics cake mascaras and lipsticks (in the trademark red velvet pouch) and Royalty hair nets (in their original 1950s packaging). He also buys compacts, hair clips, Band Aid tin boxes, satin headbands and eyelash curlers.
