Keith Richards’ Library

This picture of Keith Richards was taken by Christopher Simon Sykes in 1995 in the guitarist’s mansion in Weston, Connecticut. Published in the book Rock Stars at Home (2019) by Chris Charlesworth, Eddi Fiegel, Bryan Reesman, Colin Salter, Simon Spence and Daryl Easlea, the portrait shows Richards in his library, lounging on a velvet sofa. What caught my attention is on the desk on the left: a bottle of Dior Fahrenheit.

It’s not surprising: I can totally see Richards wearing the classic leathery masterpiece by Jean-Louis Sieuzac and Michel Almairac, launched in 1988.

Richards’ signature scent is not Fahrenheit, though. It can be seen in a picture from the same photoshoot.

It’s a vintage bottle of Guerlain Habit Rouge, created by Jean-Paul Guerlain in 1965. Richards is said to have worn it since he was young and it seems he’s passed the passion for Guerlain to the rest of the family: his daughters Theodora and Alexandra and his wife Patti Hansen starred in the advertising campaign for Shalimar Light in 2004.
